The Honeybee Initative

Sustainability project

Our honeybees project began as a Gold Award project led by Gretchen Probst. She secured the bees, supplies and site for establishing two Langstroth hives. Gretchen transitioned the project to be maintained by the Berkeley Heights Bee Committee.

Our bee committee members continue to study to become certified beekeepers. We are mentored by and members of The Morris-Somerset Bee Association. Weekly upkeep and a love of learning about these incredible insects motivate our beekeepers to share our experiences with others.

Donations for keeping the bees is always appreciated. Gardeners donate their time and own funds for education and equipment.

Helping to keep pollinators protected, providing a safe place for them to thrive and teaching others about care and safety of bees is our primary mission.

Pollinator Gardens

Helping to Feed Nature's Helpers

Our garden is passionate about pollinators. In addition to our garden beds, we have additional beds that are planted exclusively for pollinators. We grow as many native perennials and annuals as possible. Come by the the garden in the summer to witness the many spectacular sunflowers!
